Planning Solutions was established in 1995 and traces its history back to the Rank Group, where it was formerly The Rank Holidays and Hotels Developments division. This division was responsible, amongst many other projects, for the development of the Oasis Forest Holidays product (subsequently acquired by Center Parcs) and the rebranding Warner Leisure Hotels.

Since then, Planning Solutions Limited, has invested in, developed and managed a number of tourism businesses, other than Vertigo Adventures, including CONKERS, The National Brewery Centre (the former Bass Museum in Burton upon Trent), heritage farm park Kent Life in Maidstone, a Super-Tubing adventure experience in Ebbw Vale and Onboard TV an onscreen advertising service on Wightlink Ferries.
